Just Yesterday |
 |
Scraped knees, broken dolls,
crayons scribbled on the
walls, puppies, birds
ducks and more, poodle
skirts that I wore.
Get up late, do the chores,
dishes, dusting, cleaning
floors, football games
drill team, dances, watching
guys with with stolen glances.
In my convertible with
the top down, where
do I go, oh just around.
Softball, bowling, beach
and sun, water gun
fights and relays won.
Dramas, plays, just
little parts, boyfriends,
loves, broken hearts.
Wedding vows, babies,
nursery rhymes, changing
diapers, hurry, be on time.
Washing faces, holding
hands, all grown up -
you've become a man.
Braids, curls, braces and
bows, go to the mall -
buy more clothes.
I turn and look and
take a gulp, it's my
my babies all grown up...
these moments I know
can't stay, but wasn't
it only yesterday.
